At Toorak College the teaching and learning of information fluency skills is embedded in the dissemination of an integrated curriculum. The Information Fluency Program recognises the importance of preparing and skilling students to be active, productive and collaborative contributors in an increasingly global society.

The Program is based on the standards developed by the International Society for Technology in Education(ISTE®) and compatible with the General Capabilities identified by ACARA (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority) in the Australian Curriculum. It outlines, at each year level, relevant skills, learning tasks and applications that reflect 21st century learning and living.

The Australian Curriculum includes seven general capabilities:

Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge and develop innovative products and processes using technology.

Students apply digital tools to gather, evaluate and use information.
Students use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources.
Students understand human, cultural and social issues related to technology and practice legal and ethical behaviour.
Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems and operations.
I can create digital stories using a variety of production and publishing options. Eg: iMovie, Windows Moviemaker etc.
